German Educators Arrive in U.S. for Study of Human Relations Education

Six prominent West German educators arrived in the United States today for a six-week study of American methods and techniques in the teaching of civil responsibility. They came under an exchange program sponsored by German institutions. The exchange program was arranged by Professor Max Horkheimer, director of the Institute of Social Research at Frankfurt University, who is a consultant of the American Jewish Committee.

This is the second delegation of German educators to visit this country. The first delegation was financed by the Ford and New World Foundations and directed by the Institute of International Education which traditionally organizes exchanges of this nature. The HE is utilizing the American Jewish Committee as a source because of the Committee’s specialized knowledge of human relations education, its extensive contacts in West Germany and its long-standing concern with education for democracy in Germany.
