Six thousand salaried engineers, architects and chemists employed by the Government and other public institutions, carried out a warning strike at noon today, to press for an 11 percent wage increase.
Meanwhile, no end was in sight today to the nationwide strike of diamond workers now entering its third week. The workers in Israel’s leading export industry are demanding a six percent wage increase while the major diamond enterprises are prepared to pay increases only if such outlays are backed up by increases in the export premiums which the Government pays the producers. The Government thus far has refused to grant increases in the premiums.
