Israel-america Culture Foundation Awards 230 Scholarships

A total of 230 scholarships were awarded here by the Israel -America Culture Foundation to promising young Israelis in fields of music, painting and sculpture. Moshe Sharett, chairman of the Jewish Agency executive; and Y. Spira of the Kol Israel Broadcasting Service, were guest speakers at the ceremonies at which the scholarships were awarded.

Igor Stravinsky, whose 80th birthday is being celebrated in the world of music, will conduct the Israel Philharmonic orchestra during the second Israel Musical Festival which will open in Jerusalem on August 18, it was announced here today. The program also lists American opera star Roberta Peters and pianist Van Cliburn.
