The United Automobile Workers of America, AFL-CIO, purchased $100,000 in State of Israel Bonds at a dinner given by the Detroit Jewish community in honor of Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt. Last year, the UAW purchased an equal amount at a tribute to its president, Walter Reuther, which was sponsored by the Israel Bond Organization of Detroit.

Mr. Reuther joined more than 800 men and women at the dinner in paying tribute to Mrs. Roosevelt, and in stressing the importance of Israel as a democratic nation. Sales at the dinner brought to more than $500,000 the amount in Israel bonds sold in Detroit in the first six months of the year.
