“Herzl Square,” named in honor of Dr. Theodor Herzl, founder of political Zionism, was dedicated today at Porto Alegre, a Brazilian city containing a population of 15,000 Jews.

Mayor Loureiro da Silva, of Porto Alegre, participated in the ceremonies on behalf of the municipality, and leaders of the Jewish community took part in the dedication. Porto Alegre’s Jewish community is the third largest in this country, after this city and Sao Paulo.
