A book on the Jewish Dietary Laws, written by a Minneapolis rabbi and a former University of Minnesota professor, will be re-issued by the University of Minnesota Press because of continuing demand for it, it was announced here today. The book has been out of print since 1947.
“The Kosher Code of the Orthodox Jew” was written by Rabbi S.I. Levin and Dr. Edward A. Boyden, then professor of anatomy at the university. It is a literal translation of the portion of the Shulchan Aruch which describes the deficiencies which render a bird or animal unfit for Jewish consumption. It includes a discussion of Talmudic anatomy in the light of science of that time and now. It has been used as a reference work in seminary libraries.
The re-issue will be in the form of a microfilmed reproductions made by University Microfilms of Ann Arbor, Mich., by arrangement with the University of Minnesota Press.
