Protests against the return of former Minister for Refugees Theodor Oberlander to the Bundestag, lower house of Parliament, were lodged today with the president of the Bundestag, Dr. Eugen Gerstenmaier, by the Converence of Refugees from East Germany. The conference, which has Just concluded its convention here, complained that Dr. Oberlander, during the Hitler regime, “fostered National Socialism.”

Several years ago, Dr. Oberlander resigned from the post of Minister for Refugees, under charges that he had been involved with a group that condoned the murder of Jews in Lvov, during the Nazi army’s occupation of that city. However, he finished the term he then held in the Bundestag. Now, it was disclosed here, he has been appointed to fill a Bundestag seat vacated by the death of a deputy from Lower Saxony. He was defeated when he ran for that office in the last elections.
