New laws barring racial discrimination in employment, housing, and places of public accommodation have been enacted in nine states during the past two years according to a report on legislative developments in the field of civil rights made public today by the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith. In addition, five states have strengthened existing laws; two have repealed laws prohibiting interracial marriages; and numerous cities have passed civil rights ordinances, the report said.
