Johnson Announces That U.S., Israel Will Start Nuclear Talks Today

President Johnson announced here today that the first meeting of the special, joint United States-Israel committee to plan the use of nuclear energy for desalination of sea water will be held in Israel tomorrow.

At the same time, Mr. Johnson ordered that increased efforts be made in researches by American scientists in the field of the use of nuclear energy for desalination.

The announcement that the United States and Israel would cooperate in researches in this field was first made by President Johnson last January, in an address in New York before the American Committee for the Weizmann Institute.
