An Israeli delegation attended yesterday the memorial service at the Norwegian Seamen’s Church in Brooklyn for the seamen who lost their lives in the Thanksgiving Day sea disaster off the New Jersey coast.

The delegation consisted of Consul General Katriel Katz, Consul Moir Ayalon, Gottlieb Hammer, president of the American Israeli Shipping Company, and Capt. Reven Sadnai, staff captain of the SS Shalom which was involved in the disaster. Consul General Katz expressed his condolences to Norwegian Consul General Fleischer.

The first law suit resulting from the accident was filed yesterday in U. S. District Court here on behalf of Elaine Bregman who claimed”. severe, painful and permanent injuries” as a passenger on the Shalom. Filing of the $75,000 personal injury suit could lead to an inquiry in this country into the causes of the collision. At present, there will not be an official investigation because both ships are foreign-flag vessels and the accident occurred in international waters.
