President S. Z. Shazar, addressing delegates of the World Conference of Jewish Journalists at a four-hour symposium today on the role of the Jewish press, stated that the existence of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency was “a blessing” for the Jewish people because of its important work of disseminating Jewish news throughout the world and thus strengthening the ties between Jewish communities in various countries.

The symposium took place in the President’s residence. Other speakers included Premier Levi Eshkol, Deputy Premier Abba Eban, Dr. Nahum Goldmann, Dr. Emanuel Neumann, and Eleazar Lipsky, JTA president. The importance of the JTA was also stressed by Philip Slomovitz, editor of the Detroit Jewish News; Haim Shurer, editor of Davar; and Ted Lurie, editor of the Jerusalem Post.
