Israel’s new port of Ashdod, on the southern part of the country’s Mediterranean coastline, welcomed its first ship here yesterday, with the arrival of the Swedish vessel Vingeland. At this time, the harbor can accommodate only one ship at a time. A second ship is expected later this week, after the Vingeland’s departure.
