An extraordinary plenary session of the world executive of WIZO, Women’s International Zionist Organization, grappled today with a budgetary crisis stemming from recent salary increases for Israeli professionals. The session will continue until Thursday.
Mrs. Raya Jaglom, chairman of the organization, recommended a cut of 500, 000 Israeli pounds ($166, 000) in WIZO institutional expenditures as a first step to meet the crisis. She also suggested curtailing the organization’s activities, transfer of some of its educational institutions to other public bodies and increased fund-raising.
