Jordanian Raider Sentenced in Israel to 30 Years’ Imprisonment

Mahmoud Hijazi, a Jordanian captured on a raid into Israel in 1965, was sentenced today to 0 years’ imprisonment by a military court which heard his appeal from a death sentence imposed on him previously.

In imposing the sentence, the military court said that those who penetrate Israel should know they face severe punishment, and that Israel’s borders were not open for penetration. The sentence on Hijazi, an admitted member of an E1 Fatah commando unit, was imposed for sabotage, shooting at Israeli troops and carrying unlicensed weapons during his incursion.
