STUTTGART (Jan. 5)
The city of Stuttgart rebuffed today a bid by the extremist National Democratic Party to rent the Stuttgart city hall for an NDP mass meeting. The NDP responded to the rebuff by filing a claim with the administrative court to force the city to rent it the 1,00-seat hall.
Arnold Kleft, the Lord Mayor, told the press he had decided to refuse the hall to the NDP, despite several recent court decisions forcing other cities to rent their halls to the ultra-right party. He said that because of its “good contacts” with foreign countries, Stuttgart felt it was obligated to deny the hall to a political party whose democratic aims were doubtful. The NDP has been formally described by Interior Minister Paul Lucke as neo-Nazi.
