Representatives of the Israel Government and the Jewish Agency met today to discuss plans for large-scale immigration from the Western countries and a program for speedy absorption of the new settlers in the life of the country.

A decision was reached to make a joint Government-Jewish Agency appeal to Jewish communities throughout the world to increase immigration into Israel and to strengthen their relationships with the Jewish State.

Following the meeting, a denial was issued of prevalent reports that the Government would assume responsibility for immigration and would set up an immigration cabinet post.
