The neo-Nazi National Democratic Party repeated its demand today that all investigations of war crimes committed during the Nazi era be discontinued forthwith and that the Ludwigsburg war crimes investigation center be disbanded. The NPD’s demand was the party’s first foray in its campaign for votes in the Baden-Wurttemburg elections next month. Political observers expect the right-wing party that espouses Nazi ideas to win eight percent of the vote in the forthcoming election.

Two former Nazi judges went on trial for manslaughter in Nuremberg today. The charges against Karl Josef Ferber, 66, and Heinz Hugo Hoffman, 61, stem from the death sentence they imposed in 1942 on a Jewish businessman, Israel Katzenberger. who was accused of “rassenschande” (race shame) for allegedly having relations with an “Aryan” woman.
