Mayor John V. Lindsay visited the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York headquarters today where the Israel Emergency Fund campaign and regular UJA drive were officially extended through the summer months under the chairmanship of Jack D. Weiler and William Rosenwald. Mr. Weiler said that the extension was necessitated by the “unrelenting pressure” on Israelis to “devote their resources to defense and maintaining their economy.” He said they were therefore unable to resume the voluntary contributions they had made for years of two-thirds of the welfare and rehabilitation programs for immigrants, a slack which must be taken up by the Israel Emergency Fund of the UJA.

Mr. Weiler received a certificate signed by Prime Minister Levi Eshkol making him a fellow of Israel education in recognition of his participation through UJA’s Israel Education Fund in building the Moshe Sharett secondary school for immigrant children in upper Galilee.
