The Constitutional High Court at Karlsruhe will start hearings tomorrow on appeals by defendants in the main Auschwitz trials which were held in Frankfurt and lasted over a year. Six of the accused were given life sentences, 11 received lesser sentences and three were acquitted. Several of those convicted however are already free, among them Robert Mulka who was deputy commander of the Auschwitz death camp. The appeal hearings are expected to last several weeks.
