A record number of 235 American and Canadian Jews, two-thirds of them under 30 years old, left in one group this week to settle in Israel, according to Avraham Frank, director of the Israel Aliyah Center here. The emigrants included 203 persons in 47 families, plus 32 individuals. It was the first time in the history of American aliyah that family groups out-numbered the individuals, Mr. Frank said. The group, which is sailing to Israel, included 38 professionals, 16 skilled and semi-skilled workers and eight teachers. Eliezer Kroll, head of the American desk of the Jewish Agency’s aliyah department, said over 6,000 Jews from the United States and Canada will settle in Israel in 1969.
