The World Jewish Congress today denounced the Iraqi executions as “utter barbarism” and deplored “the continued failure of the international community to take effective measures to halt these monstrous crimes.” Dr. Gerhard M. Riegner, secretary general, said the WJC “renews its urgent appeal to international organizations, to governments based on the rule of law, and to men and women of good will in all countries to take immediate action to prevent further executions.”
