Premier Golda Meir has written to President Nixon to add Israel’s “fervent prayers” for the safe return of the Apollo 13 astronauts, whose moon voyage was aborted following a power failure. Mrs. Meir asked Mr. Nixon to “inform their families that here in Israel all our hearts are with them,” and said “we are filled with admiration for the courage they and their dear ones in space are showing in this hour of trial.” (In Tel Aviv, the Central Pupils Council, comprised of representatives of that city’s public and secondary schools, presented United States Ambassador Walworth Barbour with a letter of concern for the astronaut’s safety in their “perilous journey.”)
