Leon Dulzin, treasurer of the Jewish Agency, announced last night the adoption of a $29 million budget for the World Zionist Organization for the fiscal year beginning April 1. The budget is subject to approval by the finance committee of the Zionist General Council (Actions Committee) which held its first session last night.

Dulzin noted at a press conference that the WZO budget was separate from the $775 million budget adopted last month by the Jewish Agency’s Board of Governors. The Jewish Agency’s budget supports Israeli health and social welfare systems and the absorption of immigrants from non-affluent countries who need assistance on arrival in Israel.

The WZO budget, according to Dulzin, allots the sum of $11 million for the absorption of immigrants from affluent countries who have some means of their own. The WZO’s two education departments–general and religious–will receive $11.3 million while $3.8 million is earmarked for organization and information and the balance for all other WZO activities.
