Premier Golda Meir asked Israelis last night to volunteer more, even at the cost of self-sacrifice, to help new immigrants and the resident poor. Addressing the 45th annual meeting of the B’nai B’rith in Israel, she criticized those who charge that immigration absorption is at the expense of the country’s poor, Mrs. Meir said it was time the public asked the government to take all it can from the haves for the sake of the have-nots, “for the sake of all of us to provide our children with a healthy atmosphere to grow up in.” The Premier insisted that the role of Israelis was to keep their country’s doors open to newcomers and accept every new Jew with love.
