Download PDF for this date

A joint communique supporting the UN Security Council’s Resolution 242, the Jarring mission and the need for a “permanent and Just peace” in the Middle East was issued here today at the end of talks held between Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko and Belgian Foreign Minister Pierre Harmel.

After Gromyko’s departure, the Belgian Foreign Ministry released a declaration stating that it had informed the Soviet authorities of the many protests and expressions of concern which the Belgian government had received about the fate of Soviet Jewry. No details were given on Soviet response.
