An Israeli Army unit crossed the Lebanese border today and exchanged fire with terrorists in Yaroun village about two miles behind the lines leaving at least one terrorist dead. There were no Israeli casualties. The Army unit was tracking down terrorist infiltrators who ambushed an Israeli military patrol last night fatally wounding an Israeli soldier.

The soldier, identified as Shlomo Yosskovitz, 21, of Bat Yam, was taken to the hospital in nearby Dovev where he died. A search of the area after the ambush yielded the body of one terrorist apparently hit by Israeli return fire. The encounter was the first serious incident along the Lebanese border in recent months.

Sixteen Jewish immigrants comprising five families from the Soviet Union and Rumania arrived at Kennedy Airport today in time to celebrate the Jewish New Year with American relatives, it was reported by United Hias Service. Four of the families will be resettled in Greater New York, the other was flown to Cleveland. All the families entered the US through the parole authority of the US Attorney General.
