French police have imposed top security measures to guard Jewish and Israeli institutions in France against possible Arab attacks. Special precautions have been taken in the vicinity of synagogues and public halls used now for High Holiday services. Jewish schools and cultural and communal centers are also granted special police protection.

Two policemen have been assigned to guard the building in which the Jewish Telegraphic Agency European bureau in Paris is located. This building also houses the Fonds Social Juif Unifie (FSJU, United Jewish Social Service Fund) and the French United Jewish Appeal. It is understood that none of the Jewish organizations asked for these measures which were taken at the initiative of the local authorities. Israeli Embassy and Israeli institutions are also guarded on a 24-hour basis.
