The youngest member of the new Belgian government is also its only Jew. Thirty-two year-old Jean Gol, former deputy from Liege, was named secretary of the Walloon regional economy. Gol is a member of the “Rassemblement Walloon” party which has been incorporated into the new government majority. The Balloons include the French-speaking population of Belgium. He has been the only Jew in the Belgium Parliament for the last 2 years.
