The physical condition of former Premier Golda Meir has taken a turn for the worse, and physicians at Jerusalem’s Hadassah Hospital, where she has been hospitalized on and off for the past four months, are presently checking for the origin of a case of jaundice which set in yesterday.

“Mrs. Meir’s jaundice could be due to a case of viral hepititis or it could be a result of kidney problems,” said a hospital spokesman. “We are presently attempting to determine which. I don’t know if I’d say her condition has worsened. Rather, a change in it has occurred.” He added, as in earlier statements about the former Premier’s condition, that she spends her time reading the newspapers, watching television, and visiting with members of her family.
