Swastikas and slogans attacking the Dutch monarchy were found daubed on buildings in Leeuwarden, the capital of the Dutch province of Friesland early Saturday morning where later that morning Crown Princess Beatrix opened an exhibition on “The Province of Friesland During the German Occupation.” The residents of Friesland were in the forefront of the Dutch wartime resistance against the Nazi occupation and more Jews were hidden there from the Nazis than in any other Dutch province.
