The Military Government prevented an exhibition of political paintings by Palestinian Artists which was to take place in Ramallah, some 10 miles north of Jerusalem. The army confiscated five drawings which were to be shown in the exhibition, charging that they constituted incitement against the State. The drawings were entitled, “A Wedding in Jail,” “The Rejection,” and “The Day of the Prisoner.” One of the artists said: “We are not inciting against Israel, nor the Israeli people. We are merely expressing our feelings as Palestinians in paint.”
