A 190-foot tunnel leadering from the Israeli-held part of Rafah on the Mediterranean coast to the Egyptian-held part of the divided town has been found by security forces. The tunnel appears to have been dug for the use of smugglers. The Israel-Egypt border runs through the center of Rafah, and in some cases through the middle of houses. Rafah lies at the southern end of the Gaza Strip.
