Teachers throughout the country will be asked to stress to students the nature of democratic values, the meaning of tolerance and openness to varving views, and to warn the children against phenomena which could destroy the relations between Jews and Arabs.

This was announced here by Education Minister Zevulun Hammer at a meeting with parents. He said that the pedagogic secretariat of the Education Ministry has already set up a team which would prepare a special study curriculum in democracy. However, Hammer added, until the program is ready, teachers will be asked at the beginning of the school year to devote time to this issue.
