‘memories of War’ to Air September 5

“Memories of War,” a look at patriotism and prejudices from the perspective of the civilian population during World War ll, will premiere on Thirteen Thursday, September 5 at 10 p.m. The seven-part documentary series features never-before-seen film footage from the war years, and historical newsreels from Europe and Asia.

“Memories of War” will examine the Nazi occupation of Paris from the viewpoint of a German officer; the shameful apathy of the Allies to the horrors of the concentration camps; the treatment of captured soldiers in British and German prisoner-of-war centers; the varied experiences of four “war brides”; and the escape of Danish Jews from German rule, among other aspects of the civilian experience.
