Hundreds of Lebanese in the southern part of the country fled their homes expecting Israeli reprisals after Hezbollah gunmen launched Katyusha rocket attacks on northern Israel. The attacks, in which dozens of rockets injured at least 14 people, came after Israeli helicopters made a raid near the southern Lebanese city of Tyre, killing an official of the Shi’ite Amal militia. Meanwhile, the United States urged restraint on Israel and Lebanon in the wake of the events on both sides of the border.
