German ban on group upheld

FRANKFURT, March 25 (JTA) — A German court has upheld a government ban on a right-wing extremist group known as the National Front. The group was banned in 1992 by the Interior Ministry for its racist and anti- Semitic views and for its support of Nazi ideology. German laws forbid organizations that propagate Nazi doctrine. In the early 1990s, the German government banned several far right-wing organizations to stem a rise in right-wing violence. Intelligence officials say neo-Nazis in Germany have a new structure of small, loosely organized cells that communicate via mobile telephones and computer Web sites.
