U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright gave Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak a glowing endorsement after a Tuesday breakfast meeting, saying of the United States and Israel, “We are allies and partners, never more so than now.” Albright, who has scheduled an August visit to the Middle East, added, “The prime minister’s visit has ushered in a new phase in both the U.S.-Israeli relationship and the pursuit of Arab-Israeli peace.”
