Two members of the Border Police were stabbed near the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron. In Sunday’s attack, one soldier suffered moderate wounds to the back, while the other was stabbed in his hand and sustained minor wounds. The attacker, a 17-year-old Palestinian who entered the site through the Palestinian side of the cave, was shot and wounded in the leg.Knesset member Nissan Slomiansky of the National Religious Party blamed the stabbing on recent attempts by the defense establishment to evacuate a contentious Hebron home, which is on the road that links Kiryat Arba with the Cave of the Patriarchs.”Today’s event is the first result of terrorists reawakening in their effort to attack Jews,” Slomiansky told The Jerusalem Post.A spokesperson for Minister of Defense Amir Peretz denied the accusations, saying the stabbing incident had nothing to do with the evacuation decision.
