Six nations discuss Iran

Representatives of the six major powers dealing with Iran’s nuclear capability met to discuss its failure to cooperate.Representatives of Russia, the United States, Britain, France and China – the five veto-wielding members of the U.N. Security Council – and Germany met Thursday in Berlin to discuss Iran’s non-compliance despite the latest Security Council sanctions.Earlier, the U.S. representative at the meeting, Under Secretary of State Nicholas Burns, had said the United States would give Iran until the June 6-8 summit of major industrial nations to comply, otherwise sanctions could be increased at that time.U.N. inspectors believe Iran is preparing to manufacture a nuclear weapon. Iran says its nuclear activity is strictly for peaceful use. The international community wants Iran to allow greater access for weapons inspectors to evaluate its claims.
