A leader of Hamas said attacks against Israel will continue regardless of whether they are effective.Khaled Meshaal, the Damascus-based political leader of Hamas, said it is the right of the Palestinians to resist “Zionist aggression” and rejected the three conditions laid out by the international community for recognition of Hamas, the Guardian of London reported. Meshaal said those conditions – recognition of Israel, an end to violence and acceptance of previous peace agreements with Israel – are a “pretext” to demanding the amendment of the Hamas Charter, which calls for Israel’s destruction.Meshaal also predicted that international attempts to isolate Hamas would provoke an explosion that would affect stability throughout the Middle East. He also blamed American and Israeli intervention for the current infighting between Hamas and the Fatah faction.
