Rice names OSCE delegation

Condoleezza Rice named the U.S. delegation to next week’s follow-up conference on European anti-Semitism.The delegation to the June 7-8 Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe OSCE Conference on Combating Discrimination and Promoting Mutual Respect and Understanding will be led by Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.), the U.S. secretary of state said in a statement Thursday.Also traveling to the Bucharest conference, which extends from last year’s OSCE conference on anti-Semitism, are: Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.); Imam Talal Eid of the Islamic Institute of Boston and a commissioner of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom; Julie Finley, the ambassador to the OSCE; Malcolm Hoenlein, the executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations; Jeremy Katz, the White House liaison to the Jewish community; Christian Kennedy, the U.S. special envoy for Holocaust issues; Richard Land, the president of the Southern Baptist Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission; Deborah Lipstadt, the professor of modern Jewish history and Holocaust studies at Emory University; and Gregg Rickman, the U.S. special envoy to monitor and combat anti-Semitism.Rep, Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.), will also be attending separately, in his capacity as former president of the OSCE parliamentary assembly.
