Israel may transfer its Sudanese refugees to Kenya, an Israeli minister said. However, the minister, whose name was withheld, told Ha’aretz that the proposal has not been presented to Kenya and likely would be rejected out of hand.Thousands of refugees from Sudan have fled through Egypt to Israel seeking a safe haven, posing a dilemma to Israeli authorities. They cannot be returned to Egypt because they would be transferred back to Sudan, where they risk being killed for seeking asylum in the Jewish state.Israel is considering various options for dealing with the refugees, including building more fencing along the border with Egypt. The Israel Defense Forces caught 53 Sudanese along the border with Egypt on Sunday, Ha’aretz reported.
