A Jewish newspaper in Russia marked its 400th issue.Ami, the St. Petersburg biweekly, was founded in June 1990, at the height of Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev’s Glasnost policies.Yakov Tsukerman, founder and editor of Ami, recalled that the early issues of his paper were still checked by Soviet censors.The newspaper’s current print run of 2,500 copies is distributed to subscribers in Russia, Western Europe, Israel and the United States.
