Irish poet leads Holocaust tribute

Poet Seamus Heaney led a tribute to the victims of the Holocaust as Ireland marked Holocaust Memorial Day.

The Nobel laureate read an excerpt from his poem “A Sofa in the Forties” about the ignorance of the Holocaust during the Sudnay program that included a series of readings, prayers and music.

Holocaust survivor Suzi Diamond, who as a child was rescued from a concentration camp and brought to Ireland with her brother, told the Dublin audience that there are only three survivors now living in Ireland following her brother’s death last year.
