Children of Israeli diplomats abroad will attend local schools on Yom Kippur, according to reports.
The Israeli daily Yediot Achronot reported that there are no government guidelines for Israeli diplomats from various ministries and the Jewish Agency on how they should observe the holiday, and that many emissaries send their children to school on Yom Kippur.
“We expect our employees to use good judgment and logic,” Yediot quoted a foreign ministry source as saying. “We cannot enter people’s private lives, and there is no need to release directives on everything. It is true that we would expect that on such a holy day, constituting such an important symbol for the Jewish nation, emissaries would refrain from sending their children to foreign schools.”
