WASHINGTON (JTA) — A top aide to former Vice President Dick Cheney rejoined a pro-Israel think tank.
John Hannah, Cheney’s national security adviser, will direct a new initiative on U.S. strategy in the Middle East, the Washington Institute for Near East Policy said this week in a release.
Hannah was part of a tight circle advising Cheney on Middle East and security policy that also included David Wurmser, a Middle East adviser; David Addington, Cheney’s legal counsel; and Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Cheney’s chief of staff.
Hannah previously worked at the institute in the late 1980s and early 1990s, focusing on Soviet-Middle East policy. He subsequently advised Warren Christopher, the secretary of state during President Clinton’s first term.
Hannah’s wife, Laura, is also employed by the Washington Institute in an administrative capacity.
