BERLIN (JTA) — Banned material related to the neo-Nazi music scene was confiscated in a sting operation in Germany, according to the Federal Criminal Agency in Wiesbaden.
German police on Wednesday searched more than 200 apartments and shops belonging to alleged right-wing extremists. A full report on the nationwide raids was expected later in the day in Stuttgart.
Investigators had set up a sting operation involving the creation of a fake Internet-based marketplace for trading illegal music offerings, according to a report on Hessian radio. The raids were conducted based in part on responses to the sting.
No arrests have been reported, but CDs with right-wing extremist content were taken as evidence, according to a police spokesperson in Stuttgart.
The operation, which reportedly was months in preparation, was aimed at stemming the spread of right-wing extremist material.
