JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israeli police planted fake bombs in three Haifa-area malls.
Tuesday’s exercise proved how lax security is in the area three days after more than 200 pounds of explosives were nearly detonated in the parking lot of a major Haifa mall.
The disguised police officers drove cars carrying fake explosives in the trunk and under the driver’s seat into the parking lots of the three malls, including the mall that was the target of the averted attack Saturday night.
The security officers were called to the district police station following the drill.
