JERUSALEM (JTA) — Ehud Olmert has requested to postpone a hearing in one of the cases against him in order to seek cancer treatment abroad.

The former prime minister petitioned Israel’s Supreme Court Tuesday to postpone a hearing in the Rishon Tours case, set to take place in two weeks, since he will be abroad for treatment for prostate cancer, which was diagnosed more than a year ago.

Olmert’s attorneys also requested that Attorney General Menachem Mazuz organize a joint hearing on all three of the affairs in which the attorney general has indicated he will serve an indictment.

Mazuz reportedly rejected a request to postpone the hearing, despite a letter saying Olmert’s cancer required immediate treatment, the Jerusalem Post reported.
