JERUSALEM (JTA) — A Lebanese general was charged with spying for Israel.

Adeeb al-Alam, his wife and nephew were arrested earlier this month on suspicion of espionage; a fourth suspect is still at large, Reuters reported.

Alam, a retired brigadier general with the Lebanese General Security directorate, and the other three suspects were charged Thursday by a Lebanese prosecutor of supplying sensitive military and civilian information to Israel’s Mossad.

The alleged spies could face the death penalty if convicted by a military court.
